It’s Finished! Jones Cove Road Reopens

Good news for those who drive between Cocke County and Sevier County and utilize Jones Cove Road. The bridge that has been closed for the last few months after it was washed out in late June due to flooding…that bridge is now back open. The bridge was reopened on Wednesday afternoon well ahead of schedule. TDOT had hoped to have one lane of the bridge reopened by mid-November and the rest opened shortly after the first of the year. However, repairs went faster than they anticipated and the whole bridge has been reopened much sooner than was expected. There will still be crews working around the bridge doing some finishing up work. TDOT says they hope to have the whole project completely done by early in 2023. The bridge at Wilhite Road was washed out when flash floods struck Sevier County on June 25th.

That bridge closure was a major inconvenience for many residents as they were forced to take detours that took them miles out of the way.
