It’s Strawberry Time
If you love strawberries, we are getting ready to enter your favorite time of year…strawberry season. The Tennessee Department of Agriculture says with the warm spring days we’ve been having and more in the forecast, Tennessee farms will quickly have fields turning red with juicy and sweet strawberries. The best strawberries they point out are the ones that come straight from the farm. Strawberry season usually begins around the middle of April and lasts for anywhere from four to six weeks.
There are no strawberry farms registered with the Department of Agriculture in Cocke County, but there are farms nearby in Sevier, Jefferson, Greene and Grainger counties. You can find a strawberry farm in the area by going to the website https://www.picktnproducts.org/listview/strawberries.html
The Department of Agriculture says it’s always best to call the farm before you go to check for availability.
