Jewelry Theft At Wal-Mart
Newport police are investigating a jewelry theft…at Wal-Mart. Loss prevention told officers that an unidentified white male came into the store around 6:30 Thursday morning and walked back to the jewelry counter. Video footage a few minutes later showed the door open to the jewelry carousel on the counter. The man then took items out, put them into his pockets, and left the store riding a bicycle. The total amount of jewelry taken…$956. Nine items taken for nearly a thousand bucks. That theft is under investigation. Wal-Mart provided a description of the stolen items so they can be on the lookout in cast they show up elsewhere.
That theft comes on the heels of two woman who made off with three area rugs. The women put the rugs in a shopping cart, then wheeled them out of the store without paying. The two women drove away in a vehicle with out of state plates, possibly from North Carolina. The value of the rugs was just under $400.
