John Doe Found Living In Woods Behind Wal-Mart

Newport officers were called to the area behind Wal-Mart about a possible illegal bonfire in the woods. When police approached, they heard someone run away. Officers searched the woods and found a male laying down attempting to hide. The male subject did not have an ID but identified himself as 41 year old Michael Bercy. Police were unable to locate an ID for anyone with that name and date of birth given to police. Mr. Bercy stated he last had an ID out of Indiana however dispatch was unable to locate anyone in all 50 states with that name and date of birth. Police found that Mr. Bercy was living in the woods on Wal-Mart property and fled from police when they arrived. Mr. Bercy was placed under arrest as a John Doe while authorities wait for identification via fingerprints.
