Jones Cove Road Closed Indefinitely
Motorists who utilize State Route 339 to get from Cocke County to areas of Sevier County will now be facing a longer drive. Flash flooding caused by heavy rains on Monday washed out a bridge on the popular highway better known as Jones Cove Road. The bridge is just east of Wilhite Road. TDOT states this is going to be a closure of an extended period as the bridge will have to be replaced. TDOT has suggested the following detour for thru traffic.
Eastbound traffic will take State Route 35 (US 411) to State Route 416, to State Route 454, to State Route 32 (US 321), then back to State Route 339.
Westbound traffic will take State Route 32 (US 321) to State Route 454, to State Route 416, to State Route 35 (US 411) and then back to State Route 339.
TDOT says signage is in place to direct motorists.
