JSCO Presents First Citizens Acadeny
If you’ve always wanted to know what its like to be a police officer, you will now have a chance to find out compliments of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office. The sheriff’s office is now accepting applications for their first citizens police academy. In the citizens academy, you will take a ride for a full shift with an officer, meet with school resource officers, learn about criminal investigations and forensics, and take a tour of the jail and communications facility. You’ll also learn about narcotics investigations, learn survival and safety tactics and also firerarms safety.
Applications are now being accepted thriugh August 10 for the seven week academy that begins on September 2. There is no cost to attend the citizens police academy, but you do have to be at least 21 years of age to participate.
