Late Night In Store For Vols Fans

It’s gonna be a late night for Vols fans. Tennessee’s game in the Sweet 16 does not tip off until just after 10:00 tonight. Officially the tip-off time is 10:09pm. The #2 seeded Vols will be taking on #3 seed Creighton Blue Jays tonight in Detroit with a trip to the Elite 8 Sunday on the line.

Tennessee and Creighton have actually met on the court before…one time. In that game Tennessee defeated Creighton in Knoxville by the score of 34-20. That game was played in 1937. So, this is the first meeting between the two teams in 87 years.

It’s worth noting that no Rick Barnes coached team as a number 2 seed has ever gotten past the sweet 16. So Rick Barnes will try to break the curse of the Sweet 16 tonight with a very talented Tennessee team. Santiago Vescovi did not practice yesterday because of illness. Rick Barnes says Vescovi is expected to play tonight. That game will be televised on TBS.
