Loudon County Deputy Laid To Rest In Somber Ceremony
Numerous law enforcement agencies were on hand to help lay to rest Loudon County Deputy Chris Jenkins on Wednesday. Once at the cemetery, Deputy Jenkins’ casket was transferred to a caisson unit which took the deputy to his final resting place. That caisson unit making a 500 mile trek from North Carolina to be at the funeral. A riderless horse followed the caisson unit to the gravesite. Deputy Jenkins was killed one week ago today when he was struck by a semi being driven by a man who was under the influence of marijuana and was not licensed to be driving the semi. That man is currently in the Roane County jail on a $1 million bond.
