Man Arrested For Cruelty To Animals

A concerned citizen contacted Newport police after he observed a man dumping animals at the Sparkle car wash on Cosby Hwy Sunday afternoon. The man stated he watched a man take a kennel out of a blue car and trying to dump a cat and kittens out at the carwash. When the man could not get the cat and kittens to come out of the kennel, he used a car wash hose to spray them out. The citizen got a tag number from the car. That car was pulled over early Monday morning. 50 year old Sean Sheffield was arrested and charged with cruelty to animals. No word on what became of the cat and the kittens.
