Man Arrested For Domestic Assault

A man is in custody after he assaulted his pregnant girlfriend. Cocke County deputy Dylan Norton responded to a home in Newport on Hwy 321. 24 year old Taylor Rathbone stated that while she and her 24 year old boyfriend, Chad McGaha were driving back from swimming, he poured an alcoholic beverage on her. That led to an argument and once they got home, she says that McGaha grabbed her by the throat and began choking her. When deputy Norton arrived he could see marks on Rathbone’s throat consistent with strangulation. Chad McGaha was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic assault. He was also found to be wanted for a violation of probation.
