Man Arrested For Possession Of Stolen License Plates

Wednesday afternoon police in Newport were dispatched about an unwanted man at a residence. That call turned into a recovery of stolen license plates. 31 year old Daniel Setzer told police he had been staying at the home on Cliffwood Drive with his girlfriend but would leave. The homeowner of the residence pointed out a black truck on the property and stated he did not know who it belonged to but wanted it off the property. The truck had Virginia plates….those plates came back as reported stolen on December 2nd from the Big Creek area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Inside the truck was a Kentucky license plate also reported stolen on December 2nd from the same area. Daniel Stezer who had left before police found the license plates returned to pick up some belongings. He was placed under arrest theft under $1,000.
