Man Arrested In Newport On Meth Charges
A seatbelt violation turned into drug charges against a man in Newport Saturday night. Police pulled over 38 year old Jeremy Cox for failing to wear a seatbelt. The arresting officer could smell marijuana in the vehicle. Cox admitted to having marijuana, but a search of the vehicle turned up a gray backpack. Inside that backpack besides a set of scales and small baggies was a bag containing 61 grams of methamphetamine. Cox stated that a friend left the backpack in his vehicle and he didn’t know what was in it. He now faces charges of manufacture sale and delivery of methamphetamine.
