Man Charged After Pointing Gun At Several People At Cosby Dollar General
A scary situation for several people at a Dollar General in Newport last week. On Friday, July 18, a firefighter with the Cosby Volunteer Fire Department observed a man standing outside a car in the Dollar General parking lot with a gun, pointing it at several individuals. Numerous witnesses on the scene shared the same story saying that the man was in an argument with a woman that was with him. Cocke County deputies responded and spotted the vehicle that the man with the gun was in traveling southbound. Deputies followed the vehicle at speeds of up to 90 mph onto Hooper Highway and then onto Rooster Town Road where the driver then wrecked. The driver of the vehicle was 29 year old Mason Sneed, who was identified as the man with the gun at Dollar General.
Sneed is a convicted felon who had been in prison previously for Aggravated Burglary. Sneed is now charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault and three counts of Reckless Endangerment with a Deadly Weapon.
