Man Dies In Fall At Gatlinburg Convention Center
The Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration (TOSHA) is now investigating after a worker at the Gatlinburg Convention Center was killed while on the job earlier this week. Gatlinburg officials say that 66-year-old Jeffrey Coker of Gray, Tennessee was killed when he fell while installing lights at the Convention Center. Witnesses told Gatlinburg police that Coker, who was employed by The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Union No. 197, fell 32 feet while installing lighting and stage elements for an upcoming event. Emergency personnel rushed to the scene but could not save him. The investigation into the man’s death is expected to take 8 to 10 weeks to complete.
This is the second workplace event that TOSHA is investigating in the area in just over a week. Last week, 29 employees at a cheese factory in Greeneville were sent to area hospitals after two leaks of anhydrous ammonia at the plant.
