Man Fires Shot At Boat Launchers
A man trying to launch a boat into Douglas Lake in Cocke County had a scary encounter. Alan Caldwell, Jr. told a Cocke County deputy that he and his wife were attempting to launch their boat into Douglas Lake at a spot on Hwy 25E across from Odell Road. He says that’s when a man identified as Franber Ramirez Fernandez began making aggressive gestures at them. Caldwell stated he told the man he was just trying to launch his boat, but Fernandez raised his shirt and expose a firearm in the front of his waistband. Caldwell stated that feeling very uncomfortable, he and his wife decided against launching the boat and left the area instead. That is when Caldwell says that Fernandez fired shots in no known direction. A vehicle matching the description given by Caldwell to police was found at a carwash on Hwy 25E.
Fernandez was found with the vehicle and was found with a Ruger LCP .380 in his waistband. Fernnandez, who had a Mexico identification card on him was under the influence of alcohol. He is charged with Aggravated Assault and Reckless Endangerment With A Deadly Weapon.
