Man Involved In Danielle Owens Case Sentenced To Prison
A Greene County man will serve time in prison in connection with the death of a 16 year old girl who had been reported missing over a year ago. You might recall the case of Danielle Owens. Her family had reported her missing as she was last seen on December 11, 2022. Her body was found two months later in a field on Doughtys Chapel Road in February of 2023. 33 year old David Dabbs of Greeneville was charged in that case. Those charges included criminally negligent homicide, aggravated assault, two counts of false report, child abuse and neglect, and contributing to the unruly conduct of a child. Dabbs entered an Alford plea this week, meaning he accepted a plea deal but maintained his innocence.
A judge sentenced Dabbs to 4 years in prison, of which he has to serve 30% of that sentence to be eligible for release. That 4 year sentence is being added to the additional eight year sentence he is serving on a previous methamphetamine related charge.
