Man Killed During Spring Rod Run
The Spring Rod Run was this past weekend in Pigeon Forge and one man lost his life during the event. Pigeon Forge police say the accident happened Thursday night around 11:30pm when a man was traveling on a scooter near the intersection of the Parkway and the Jake Thomas Connector. According to police, Jeremy Hanes and his 31 year old son Kyle were riding scooters Thursday night on the sidewalk, when law enforcement asked them to move off the sidewalk and onto the road.
Police say that a person in a car that was stopped at a redlight opened their car door, and Kyle Hanes ran into the car door on his scooter. Hanes was taken to the hospital but died from his injuries the next day. Jeremy Hanes says he and his son always looked forward to coming to the Rod Run in Pigeon Forge. That accident remains under investigation.
