Man Taken Into Custody For Aggravated Assault and Reckless Endangerment
A man and his wife were the victims of an aggravated assault on Sunday evening. Cocke County deputy Zach McGourick responded to a home on Stowa Way and spoke with Herman West who told the deputy that a silver Honda was coming down the road at a high rate of speed and yelled at the driver to slow down…the driver then stopped, exited his vehicle and pulled a silver hand gun on West…he stated his wife got in-between the two men to defuse the situation., but the man identified as Rodney Williams then pulled the slide on the handgun chambering a round and then pointed the gun at West and his wife backed away. Williams got back into his vehicle and drove away.
Williams was then involved in an incident at his home where his brother-in-law Richie Carr tried to intervene in an argument between Williams and his wife Angelic Carr. Richie Carr told deputies that Williams began coming toward him angrily…even throwing a bicycle at him…Carr stated that he saw something in Williams’ hand and knew that Williams had pulled a gun on the Wests earlier. Carr stated that he finally used his gun and fired a shot a Williams feet to try to stop him. Video footage taken from a camera on a neighbors home coincided with Carr’s description of events. Rodney Williams then fled the scene…officers found him trying tp hide under a neighbors house. Williams was taken into custody for the warrants issued earlier in the day for aggravated assault and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon in the incident involving the Wests.
