Man Taken Into Custody on Active Warrant From Virginia

Wednesday night, police were called to the area of Cosby Highway and Broadway in Newport. Someone had called police to report a man lying in the grass beside the sidewalk in front of Walgreen’s. Officer Joshua Shults responded and found 32 year old Raymond Guthrie. Guthrie was wanted on an active probation violation warrant from Bristol, Virginia. Guthrie was taken into custody and transported to the Cocke County jail without incident.
