Man Wanted On Felony Warrants Leads Deputies On High Speed Chase
A man wanted on several felony warrants in Sevier County led both Sevier and Cocke County deputies on a high speed chase that nearly ended tragically. Friday night, Sevier County deputies were spotted pursuing 46 year old Kurt Jagers into Cocke County on Bogard Road. Cocke County deputies joined in the pursuit, which eventually wound up on US321 headed south at speeds of 100 mph. An attempt to box Jagers in failed on Hwy 321 and the pursuit continued back into Sevier County with Jagers sometimes driving in the oncoming lane, nearly causing two head-on crashes. The pursuit continued eventually getting on the Parkway in Pigeon Forge. At the intersection of the Parkway and Christmas Tree Lane, Jagers nearly struck a motorist in the intersection due to his speed and erratic driving. Cocke County Deputy Shane Bowers could not avoid the collision but was able to turn his wheel to avoid what would have been a catastrophic accident. Cowers immediately checked on the occupants of that vehicle which were unharmed. The Tennessee Highway Patrol then took over the accident scene, but Jagers avoided capture and is still at large.
