Many In Sevier County Still Have No Power
As the next winter storm approaches…Sevier County residents still have not recovered from the last bout with Mother Nature on Monday. As of last night, there were still some 12,000 homes in Sevier County still without power. The Sevier County Electric Service originally told customers on Monday that all power should be restired in 48-72 hours. However 72 hours later, there are still 12,000 homes still in the dark. With the next winter storm coming in followed by very cold temperatures, many homeowners are getting very nervous. Not only do they still not have power, but with the frigid temps coming and no way to warm their homes, frozen pipes are a huge concern. The General Manager and CEO of SECS has advised customers still without power to stay with relatives or friends who do have power or find lodging at a motel. The Quality Inn at I-40 exit 407 in Kodak is offering a discount to Sevier County residents. They are offering a $25 discount off of the standard room…plus they normally do not accept pets. However, due to the circumstances, the hotel is allowing pets for a $10 fee.
