Marijuana Arrests Over New Year’s
Several marijuana related arrests over the New Years’ weekend in Cocke County. On Friday, a vehicle driven by 27 yer old Jessica Gray of Sevierville was pulled over by the Cocke County Sheriff’s Department on I-40 near mm 437 when gray was seen driving onto the shoulder several times. An open Bottle of Jameson whiskey was found in the backseat as well as nearly 100 grams of marijuana. Gray was charged with possession as well as driving under the influence as well as other charges.
Newport resident 77 year old Arthur Hill, was pulled over New Year’s Eve for failing to maintain his lane while driving on Greystone Way. Hill admitted to leaving Ruby Tuesdays after drinking several beers. He was also found with four marijuana joints. He was charged with possession of schedule VI and DUI.
Finally, 38 year old Kevin Kirkpatrick of Newport was pulled over after failing to stop at a stop sign on Cosby Hwy on New Year’s Eve. The odor of marijuana was coming from his vehicle. When searched, just over 7 grams of marijuana was found in a zip lock bag. He is charged with possession of marijuana plus running a stop sign.
