Minor Accident At Tidal Wave Car Wash
Police responded Wednesday to a minor accident at the Tidal Wave Car Wash in Newport involving two vehicles inside the wash bay. According to the report, officers arrived on October 22nd and spoke with Wade Wester, the driver of the first vehicle. Wester said he was inside the wash bay when another vehicle struck him from behind. Officers noted damage to the rear of his car. The second driver, David Whitlock, told police his vehicle was pushed forward by the wash’s roller system and hit Wester’s car. Whitlock said his windshield was covered in soap at the time, so he didn’t actually see the collision happen. Tidal Wave manager Sam Schmidt reviewed security video and confirmed that vehicle two hit vehicle one in the rear bumper. Schmidt said it appeared Whitlock’s car may have been left in drive, causing it to roll forward and trigger the crash.
No injuries were reported, and the damage was described as minor.
