More Drug Arrests Over The Weekend
Newport police arrested a woman after she was found passed out sitting in a vehicle in the drive-thru of a bank’s ATM. Police were called to First Horizon bank on Cosby Hwy after a report of a woman sitting in a white Jeep Cherokee who appeared to be asleep. Drug paraphernalia could be plainly seen in the vehicle’s center console, prompting a search. 28 year old Aspen Denton was found to b in possession of 1.76 grams of methamphetamine and a bag with approximately 28.3 grams of a brown substance believed to b heroin in the form of powder and chunks. She now faces several charges for being in possession of illegal narcotics.
Two more people were arrested over the weekend after a vehicle was pulled over for expired tags. 22 year old Marty Grooms was the driver. He was wanted in Cocke County for violation of probation. The passenger in the vehicle was 26 year old Kaela Napier. She was in possession of a backpack that contained multiple syringes, multiple narcotics baggies, several cut straws, a digital scale, 3 oxycodone pills and multiple bags containing a total amount of just over 3 grams of a purple powdery substance Napier called cocaine. She stated she was in possession of it because she’s been wanting to try it and it was given to her. The substance however was not cocaine, but heroin. She now is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
