More Information Released On Bean Station Officer Involved Shooting
New information has been released in the officer involved shooting in the Bean Station area a couple weeks ago. According to newly released documents, a police officer was called to a home on Love Drive in Bean Station due to a vehicle theft. When an officer arrived the suspect, Dustin Lee Carpenter, took off running behind the house. Carpenter jumped over one fence and went across a field but failed to get over a second fence. That is when Carpenter allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired at the officer. Carpenter missed, but the officer returned fire, hitting Carpenter in the hip area. Carpenter was then arrested and was transported to the UT Medical Center for treatment.
Carpenter is being held without bond on a charge of attempt to commit felony murder on a police officer.
