Morristown Fire Department Investigating 2 Possible Arson Cases
Two cases of possible arson are under investigation in Morristown after fires over the weekend. First, police and fire units responded to a mobile home park on North Liberty Hill Road on a report of a fire. Upon arrival they observed the front porch and a part of the front wall of a mobile home was on fire. The fire was extinguished and there was no one in the home. The home’s owner (Jose Hernandez) arrived to the scene and was transported to ta local motel. The Fire Department is investigating the fire as arson.
Then Sunday night, units responded to a structure fire on Sherwood Drive. Upon arrival police observed half of an unconnected double wide mobile home was fully engulfed in flames. The fire department was already on scene working on the fire. It was found that the double wide had recently been moved onto the property and not connected to power. Officers spoke with a neighbor to get the property owners information. He was contacted and informed about the fire. The property owner, Chris Simmons, confirmed that there was no power and no reason that the structure should have caught fire. That case is also under investigation for arson. No one was hurt in either of those blazes over the weekend.
