Morristown Man Swipes Semi

A Morristown man was cited Wednesday in Newport after he side swiped a semi. A witness told police that 34 year old Jose Mateo was driving his Toyota Camry recklessly and tried to pass a semi by going around it on the curb to the right. Mateo’s Camry then struck the right side of the truck as he tried to go around it. Joshua Crooker of Leicester, NC was driving the semi owned by Elliot Freight in Thorn Hill, TN. Both the car and the semi suffered damage. Mateo was cited for failure to use due care, plus driving with no license or insurance.
