Morristown PD Investigating Surrendered Handgun
Morristown police are investigating to see if a gun turned into police Monday was used in a recent rash of shootings in that area. Police say a man came to the police Monday wanting to surrender a handgun that his neice has purchased. Upon speaking with the neice, she told police that convicted felon William F. Luttrell, Jr. of White Pine had tried to sell her the gun, but she declined. Then another convicted felon, Josue Silva of Morristown approached her with the same gun whose frame had been painted purple. She bought the gun but was then turned over to police. There has been a recent rash of drive-by shootings in Morristown over the last few months. Detectives are looking at whether that 9mm pistol might be involved.
