Murder Suspect In Custody
A 24 hour manhunt for a murder suspect ended this morning in the area of Industrial Road in Newport. More details have now been released regarding that case, which includes the murder of an individual on Baysinger Road in Parrottsville Sunday. According to a release from the Cocke County Sheriff’s office, deputies arrived on scene just before noon Sunday in the 600 block of Baysinger Road and found 61 year old Mark Burnham dead from a gunshot wound. His neighbor, 66 year old David Kite Moore was identified as the suspect in that shooting. A witness told deputies that Moore was inside his home and armed. After drones were deployed inside the home by the Sevierville Police Department, the SWAT team went into the home and found it empty. That set off a manhunt for David Moore. This morning, Moore was spotted by law enforcement traveling in the area of Industrial Road. A pursuit began, but ended a short time later when Moore crashed his vehicle at the intersection of Point Pleasant Road and Emanual Road. He was taken into custody without incident.
The TBI, at the request of District Attorney Jimmy Dunn is investigating that homicide.
