NC Deputy Targeted In Shooting
Police in North Carolina believe a deputy sheriff was recently targeted in a drive by shooting. The shooting happened in Arden, just south of Asheville. Police say that around 10pm on the night of April 6th, a dark colored Hyandai was spotted going through a neighborghood and someone from the vehicle fired shots at the home of a Buncombe County deputy. The deputies patrol car was struck by several bullets and at least one bullet hole was found in the deputy’s home as well as several bullet holes in home behind it. Police say they do not believe it was random as the sheriff’s deputy’s home and vehicle were the only ones targeted on that street. Two days later, there was another drive-by shooting in Arden where several vehicles were hit by bullets, but authorities have not linked the two shootings together.
This happening as there has been an increase in violent crime in Asheville lately…that includes a couple who were robbed at gunpoint as they were coming out of a Mellow Mushroom Pizza restaurant Tuesday night. That armed robbery happening just 1/4 of a mile from the Asheville Police Department.
