NC Man Claims To Have Been Assaulted And Robbed At Newport Motel
Newport police were called to the Best Western Motel on Cosby Highway earlier this week. They spoke with 59 year old Alan Egmer who claims he was assulted and robbed in the parking lot the day after Christmas. Egmer says he doesn’t remember much fro,m that day, only that he had been taken to the hospital as he was told he had fallen from his U-Haul truck. Egmer contends his injuries were not consistent with falling from the truck.
Egmer related to police that he had broken teeth and bits of glass in his mouth, plus a large laceration on the top of his head. He further stated he believes he was robbed because some belongings are missing. That includes a case that includes his medication and other personal documents. His wallet containing his North Carolina Drivers’ License, social security card, credit cards and over $1,000 in cash is also missing. He says he checked with both the ambulance company and the hospital and was told they had not seen those items. If you have any information about this case, call the Newport Police department.
