New State Law Requires Carbon Monoxide Alarms In Daycares
A bill that has passed the state legislature will now require all daycare centers to have carbon monoxide detectors installed in their facility. According to the bill, a carbon monoxide detector will have to be installed in each room where child care is provided. Daycares are being given a a deadline of September 30 of this year to be in compliance. Any daycare that opens after July 1 of this year, will be required to have their alarms installed before the first day of child care is provided. A violation of the new law will be a class C misdemeanor. That carries a fine of up to $50 and the possibility of up to 30 days in jail. The bill is now headed to Governor Bill Lee’s desk and he is expected to sign it into law.
