Newport City Council September Meeting
It was a pretty light agenda for the Newport City Council last night in their September meeting.
The city of Newport if looking to create a museum and history board. Last night at the Newport City Council meeting the council heard the second reading of a proposal to create that board. That museum board would work with the new museum in the Tanner building.
Also last night the council voted in favor of closing the right of ways on a piece of property on Birch Street that the city recently purchased. That piece of property is at the trailhead of the new Woodlands Park near the existing City Park.
The council also approved to build new decking for the Community Center pool.
The council also gave the go ahead for an art festival which will be held next spring. That art festival is planned to be on the Riverwalk behind City Hall in downtown Newport. We’ll let you know when the dates of that art festival are officially released.
