Newport Fireworks Refresher

With the 4th of July coming up, it’s a good time to remind those who live in the city limits of Newport about the fireworks ordinance. Fireworks are only allowed in the city on July 3, 4 & 5, and can not be set off after 11pm. You cannot set off fireworks on or towards another person’s property without their permission. Fireworks are also prohibited within 600 feet of a church, hospital, funeral home or a school. They can also not be set off within 200 feet of a place selling fireworks. It is also unlawful to set off fireworks from a moving vehicle.

With the dry weather we have been experiencing along with the hot temperatures, if you will be setting off fireworks this holiday, make sure to have a water source nearby.
