Newport Man Arrested For Aggravated Assault
A Newport man is in jail after he forced his way into his ex-girlfriend’s home and assaulted her. The victim told police that 44 year old Robert Hall showed up at her home Tuesday morning around 7am and she asked him to leave because of their prior altercations. As Hall left he cut the cord to her outdoor cameras. Around 11:30 am that morning she was outside near her carport trying to fix her camera system when Hall showed back up. The victim stated she went back into her home and locked herself in a bedroom. Hall then used something to pry the locked door open. He then broke through the bedroom door and assaulted her, leaving her unconscious on the floor. He also took her cell phone she was using to call for help and threw it in her driveway as he fled. Deputies arrived on the scene and found both the victim and her cell phone. Robert Hall was later found at his home by Newport police and was taken into custody. He faces charges of Especially Aggravated Burglary, Aggravated Domestic Assault, Interference with an Emergency Call and Vandalism.
