Newport Man Arrested For Elder Abuse

A Newport man was arrested over the weekend for elder abuse. A Cocke County deputy was called to a residence on Shag Rd. where he was met at the door by 83 year old Stanley McNabb, who told the deputy that Shannon Dotson was in the kitchen and was crazy. Deputy Randy Forbes found Dotson in the kitchen holding two stove eyes in both hands….Dotson’s grandmother Euvanee Dotson told Forbes she was scared of her grandson. McNabb showed Forbes a bruise that was made when the 34 year Dotson had punched him in the thigh. Dotson, who was under the influence of an intoxicant was taken into custody without incident. He has been charged with domestic assault and elder abuse.
