Newport Man Arrested In Stabbing Incident
A Newport man is in jail after he stabbed another man earlier this week. Police were called to the Newport Medical Center Monday afternoon to speak with the stabbing victim, Sean Murray. He told police that a white male with a reddish beard had pulled into his driveway. Murray says when he made contact with the man, now identified as 40 year old Adam Arrowood, and asked him to leave the property, Murray says that Arrowood then stated he would drive wherever he wanted. It was at that time that Arrowood got out of his vehicle with a knife and swung it at Murray, causing serious lacerations on his chest and arm. Murray was rushed to the Newport Medical Center.
Newport police located Arrowood at the Cocke County Co-op on west Broadway. A large knife matching the weapon’s description was found in his truck. Arrowood has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Criminal Trespass.
