Newport Man Wanted For Aggravated Domestic Assault

A Warrant has been issued for a Newport man after he attacked his mother. The Cocke County Sheriff’s office was called to a home Thursday afternoon. Tina Howery told the responding deputy that her son, 26 year old Aaron Howery had wanted her to take him somewhere in her car and she refused. That is when he threw a bottle of Gatorade at her and began cussing her. When she went to call 911, he took the phone away from her. When she tried t get away from him, he grabbled her. She stated that she tried to grab a hold of a fence post, but he then began to choke her. When he let her go, she tried to run from him again, but this time he grabbed her and put his hand over her mouth so she could not scream for help and took her back inside the house. A man nearby saw part of the incident and called 911. When a deputy arrived, Aaron Howery fled out the back door of the residence and escaped. Warrants have been issued for his arrest for aggravated domestic assault, false imprisonment and interference with an emergency call.
