Newport Medical Center Welcomes New Surgeon

Tennova Healthcare this week announced the arrival of a new board-certified general surgeon at the Newport Medical Center. They are welcoming Dr. Darby Pope to Newport. Dr. Pope has worked as a general surgeon for 17 years at several hospitals, including Maine General Medical Center in Waterville, ME, Concord Hospital in Concord, NH, and Stillwater Medical Center in Stillwater, OK. Dr. Pope is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Center in Baltimore, MD, and completed his general surgical internship and residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH, and completed his thoracic surgery residency at St. Luke’s Hospital, University of Missouri in Kansas City.

Dr. Pope is experienced in a range of general surgery procedures and techniques, but specializes in minimally invasive surgery, including advanced laparoscopic surgery and robotics. Dr. Pope performs gallbladder, breast, thoracic, gastrointestinal, and abdominal surgery, as well as hernia repair and vascular/endovascular procedures.
