Newport Police Arrest 2 With Outstanding Warrants
Late Tuesday night Newport police apprehended two individuals with outstanding warrants for their arrest. Officer William Garber observed a white Nissan Quest van traveling southbound on Cosby Hwy that matched the description of a vehicle that the Cocke County Sheriff’s department had put out a bolo on. The plate displayed on the Nissan came back registered to a Honda, so Garber pulled the vehicle over at Kyker Street. The driver of the vehicle was Richard Brotherton who had an active warrant for escape. Also a passenger in the vehicle was Cody Ridge Rathbone who also had an outstanding warrant from April for evading arrest, theft of property and driving with a suspended license. Both of those men were taken into custody and transported to the Cocke County Jail.
