Newport Police Dispatched To Wal-Mart
Newport police were dispatched to Wal-Mart on Cosby Hwy Thursday night about a woman who had taken unpaid merchandise into the woman’s room and was refusing to come out. An employee stated that the female subject was continually changing clothes in the restroom.
Police entered and found the woman half-clothed, screaming and yelling at responding officers. The woman had no ID on her and gave several different names and different social security numbers to police. She was taken into custody for public intoxication and disorderly conduct. The woman fought with police both outside and once inside the patrol car. At the Cocke County jail, Officer Paul Weber took the jigsaw puzzle of names and social security numbers and after several hours was able to identify the woman as 46 year old Mandy Mulloy. Because she had given several false identifications, she has also now been charged with criminal impersonation as well as resisting arrest. Wal-Mart did not file charges fo the attempted theft, but did request that Mulloy be trespassed from the location.
