Newport Police Investigate Theft At Local Motel

Newport police are investigating a theft at a local motel that involves two handguns. Codee Hatmaker told police that he had been out of town for a few weeks, but when he came back to his room he stays in at the Family Inn on Cosby Hwy, he found two handguns and a PlayStation 4 were missing from his room. The handguns were a Taurus Judge revolver and a Springfield XD 40 caliber pistol. Hatmaker says other residents of the motel have stated that another resident has been saying he had two handguns to sell that matched the description of those stolen. The same man trying to sell guns is the same person that motel management say tried to gain access to Hatmaker’s room but left the areas when he was spotted. That person has been identified , but no arrest has been made at this time.
