Newport Woman Charged With Domestic Assault

A Newport woman has been charged following a domestic assault incident. On October 20th, Cocke County deputies responded to Red Hill Road after reports of a physical altercation between a man and a woman. Deputies say William Emmons told them his girlfriend, Lora Mantooth, had been drinking and attacked him during an argument. Emmons provided video evidence showing Mantooth intoxicated and acting aggressively, with Emmons showing visible marks and blood on his shirt. Deputies later found Mantooth at the home, where they reported she appeared intoxicated and smelled strongly of alcohol. Mantooth claimed the dispute was only verbal, but based on video evidence and Emmons’ injuries, she was arrested for domestic assault and taken to the Cocke County Jail for booking.
