Newport Woman Found Dead Apparent Overdose

A Newport woman dies over the weekend from what appears to be an overdose. 52 year old Mitzi Gibson was found in the bedroom of a home Sunday lying on the bed, fully clothed, not breathing. Witnesses stated that an unknown woman in a maroon Dodge Charger had dropped off a morphine pill for Gibson. A witness stated that Gibson had put the pill in her mouth to get the coating off, then crushed up the pill and snorted it. The medical examiner was called to the scene where Ms. Gibson was pronounced dead.
