NPD Accepting Applications

The Newport Police Department is now accepting applications for the positions of police officer, both full time and part time. Applicants must be 21 years of age, provide copies of their High School diploma or the equivalent. You’ll need a valid TN Driver’s License to apply, and a copy of your discharge if you are a military veteran. There is a hiring bonus of $10,000 those hired that are already *TN POST Certified. You can NOT be a current law enforcement employee or have been employed as a law enforcement officer for at least 1 year. Incremental pay will begin on your 6-month anniversary date. You must remain employed as a NPD officer for at least 3 years to earn the entire $10,000 bonus. Application packets must be picked up in person at the Newport Polcie Department at 330 E. Main Street or online at the City of Newport’s website. completed packets must be turned in at the Newport Police Department.
