One Dead After Monday Shooting In White Pine
A child custody dispute had led to a shooting death. The incident happened at the Pilot Travel Center at Exit 4 off I-81 in White Pine. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says the shooting stemmed from a custody drop-off between two parents who were meeting at the Pilot to change custody of their child. Two people were injured in that shooting and another was killed. One of the injured was the teenager involved in the custody dispute. The White Pine Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s office and Tennessee Highway Patrol all responded to the scene. At least one of the injured was airlifted to the hospital. None of the names of the persons involved in that shooting have been released as the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office says this is an ongoing investigation.
