One Week Left To Register To Vote For August Election
If you have not registered to vote yet for the August 1 primary and local general election, your time is quickly running out to do so. The deadline to register for the August 1 election is one week from today, July 2.
The August 1 election is the primary for the US Senate, US Representative and state representative races. Current US Representative Diana Harshbarger and current State Representative Jeremy Faison are running unopposed for the republican nominations for their seats. US Senator Marsha Blackburn does have a challenger for the republican nomination. All three will run against Democrat opponents in November.
Locally for the August 1 election, There are three county school board seats and Assessor of Property up for election. However, all four of those individuals are running unopposed, so the August 1 election is just a formality. To register to vote, you can go by the Cocke County Elections Commission office in the Cocke County Annex building, or you can go online to ovr.govotetn.gov. Early voting will begin on July 12.
