Patient Threatens Staff and Therapist

Cocke County deputies had an encounter with a patient at The Summit At Harmony Oaks rehab facility. Staff had called police about a man threatening patients and staff with a stick. Staff told deputies they could find 19 year old Keegan Ayers behind the facility. Deputies found Ayers with a large stick he had threatened others with, including threatening to kill his therapist. When deputies tried to get the stick from Ayers, he fought with the deputies, to where he had to be tased. Tasing however did not bring him under control, so deputies continued to fight with the young man and finally gained his compliance. Ayers, who has Bipolar Disorder with Manic Episodes and Severe Aggression was taken into custody and charged with assault. Neither of the deputies were injured in that incident.
