Person Masquerading As Home Health Nurse Switching Medications
Something to be aware of if you or a family member gets visited by home health…there may be someone masquerading as a home nurse that is selling medications. Newport police were called on Monday to Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice… they stated that one of their client’s pills had been switched. Ashley Hammer told police that one of their client’s hydrocodone had been swapped with Tylenol. Hammer said the 75 year old woman had gotten her prescription refilled a week earlier. The woman’s daughter stated that a different nurse has visited on Friday May 13th. Afterwards, she noticed her mother’s hydrocodone pills looked different. The daughter said the nurse that come to the home was a short haired brunette in her 40’s or 50’s and was dressed in white scrubs. Ashley Hammer told police she checked the system and found no one was scheduled from Smoky Mountain to visit the client on Friday. Hammer told police the description the victim’s daughter gave was similar to that of a woman who has been spotted posing as a nurse in nearby areas.
