Police Arrest Man After Attack on Woman

Newport police arrested a man Thursday after he attacked a woman and her small child. The female victim told police her boyfriend, 20 year old Logan Hunt, became violent when she was holding her 3 month old child. She stated that during this time, Hunt struck her with a child’s car seat, causing injury to both her and the child. The 19 year old victim says when she tried tog et away from him, Hunt grabbed her by the throat from behind with enough pressure to cut off her airflow. She stated he also put a pocket knife to her throat. She was finally able to get away from Hunt when she had to leave for work. that is when she was able to call for help.

Police say as they were speaking to the victim, she was visibly shaking. Officers found Logan Hunt in room 114 of the Family Inn on Cosby Hwy. He was taken into custody and is charged with Aggravated Assault, Kidnapping, Child Endangerment and Child Abuse, and Interference with an Emergency Call as Hunt smashed the victim’s phone when she attempted to call 911.
